Private Yoga Lessons
Hi. I’m Jenn.
I've been a group yoga teacher for over 10 years. While I love teaching groups, my favorite thing about private yoga is seeing the impact that it makes on my student's life. My private yoga sessions take the whole person into account. I meet you where you are, and give you the encouragement you need to create a life that is more healthy, balanced, and expressive. |
Private Yoga: a Personalized Practice for You
A private yoga lesson deepens your practice in meaningful ways because of the one-on-one attention you will receive. I offer hands-on adjustments and in-depth information about poses based on your unique abilities. You get a sequence that is crafted specifically for where you are at on that given day.
If you practice regularly in a class setting, one-on-one attention in private yoga lessons can fill the gap between where you are from working on your own and what is possible with my guidance.

My perfect client is someone who thinks yoga isn't for them.
Maybe you have tried out a few classes and felt out of place, uncomfortable, or overlooked. Perhaps you had a knee or hip replacement, a spinal fusion, or are recovering from an injury.
Perhaps you are at a place of stagnation in your relationship with your body. You wake up achy, go to bed fatigued, and never feel relaxed or at ease in your body. Perhaps you think yoga is too hippy-dippy, and you want to focus more on the physical aspects of the practice. Perhaps you are aiming to change your lifestyle to reduce stress and live more healthfully. Private yoga gives you the opportunity to learn about your body in a way that doesn't feel alienating or out of reach. I offer sessions that are both challenging and nurturing that will help build strength and flexibility within a framework of support and empowerment. |
Private Yoga Lessons: You get my undivided attention. I'm here for you.
The first time we meet, I spend time getting to know you. I want to understand why you are seeking private yoga lessons and what your experience is with yoga. We’ll talk through what you like and dislike about yoga.
Most private teachers stop there, but I prefer to expand the lens and try to understand what your relationship is to your body. I want to know when you feel powerful and when you feel weak. We’ll talk about your daily movement experience and how that affects how you feel in your body. I ask these questions because your answers help inform my understanding of where you are coming from. I can then craft a personalized practice that will help you move better and feel freer in your body. In every session, you get the opportunity to ask questions, to provide feedback, and receive lots of hands-on assistance. |
The insight you get from private yoga lessons will impact the rest of your life.
As we develop our relationship and I learn more about you, I will begin to offer insight on how to move with ease in other areas of your life. We’ll talk about how you can adjust your work environment to alleviate tension in your back or neck. If you participate in other physical activities, we’ll talk about how to effectively warm-up and cool-down so that your body is always at ease.
Learn practices to alleviate stress and feel better.
I incorporate relaxation and guided breath work into your private yoga lesson. If you are interested, meditation can also be part of our sessions. Often clients find that these practices allow them to lower stress in their life, show up with greater presence for others, sleep better, and alleviate tension headaches. |
My approach to anatomy is a holistic, rather than segmented.
My understanding of movement pulls from a wide range of experiences that I integrate into your private yoga session. Part of my university dance degree included studying anatomy and kinesiology. I have continued my anatomy studies post-graduation, leading anatomy and alignment sessions for 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training programs. I also continue to take trainings and workshops in this field. If your knee hurts during a specific activity, I will focus on overall alignment of the body, strength imbalances, and areas of tension both upstream and downstream of the knee, rather than direct all my attention to the joint itself. |
